She has exhibited object- based work and engaged in collaborative glass-themed performances at institutions such as the Design Museum Gent, Corning Museum of Glass, and the Toledo Museum of Art. An active writer, she has published her theories on contemporary glass in The Urban Glass Quarterly and Detroit Research and has delivered lectures on various topics at conferences and universities throughout the country.

Harty has a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (2006) and an MFA from the School of Art Institute of Chicago (2013). She is Assistant Professor and Section Head of Glass at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, where she currently resides.
