Tiffany ChungVietnamese-American, born 1969

Tiffany Chung was born in 1969 in Da Nang, Vietnam and received her BFA in Photography from California State University, Long Beach in 1998 and an MFA in Studio Art from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2000. She has recently been honored with her first major solo exhibition at an American museum: Vietnam, Past is Prologue, which is currently on view at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC. Solo exhibitions of her work have also been held at the Hitachi City Museum in Japan (2016); Lieu-Commun, Toulouse, France (2014); Zendai MOMA, Shanghai, China (2008); and Fukouka Asian Art Museum, Japan (2005). Chung’s work has been featured in exhibitions at the Mori Art Museum, Japan; Museum of Modern Art, NY; Louisiana Museum of Modern Art; Museum Arnhem, Netherlands; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and at the 2015 Venice Biennale, among others. In 2013, she was awarded the Sharjah Biennial Artist Prize for exceptional contribution to the biennial. Chung is also a co-founder of Sàn Art, an independent, artist-initiated non-profit gallery space and reading room in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She is represented by Tyler Rollins Fine Art in New York and Galerie Quynh in Vietnam. She currently lives and works in Houston, Texas.
