According to the artist's website ( www.artistjamesmaxwell.com/abouy.html ), in his early career he was a staff-artist for NBC-TV, his work included painting dancers' bodies on Laugh-In; a graphic artist for documentaries for NBC news; courtroom sketches of the trials of Charles Manson and Angela Davis. He did receive an Emmy for his graphic work in television. By 1973 he moved to Mendocino, California to become an artist and teacher. Today he considers himself a multimedia artist as he creates watercolor paintings, sculpture, prints, as well as commissioned work.
