Tomokazu 友一 (Kanō Tomokazu 加納友一)

Tomokazu 友一 (Kanō Tomokazu 加納友一), mid-19th c. At 17 he went to work for a family named Shibata. First his master scolded him for devoting all his spare time using his carving knife and writing brush. Later, after seeing his great skill, provided full support of his carving. Ended up in Kyoto, where he became well known. Excelled at carving netsuke of turtles and monkeys.
