BiographyThough initially active as a sculptor, Eugène Verboeckhoven’s foremost métier was painting. He painted portraits and landscapes, but his primary activity was as an animalier. A prolific artist, Verboeckhoven made extensive use of his activity as a draughtsman in the formulation of his compositions. He traveled widely throughout Europe and Great Britain and enjoyed wide, international prominence, including recognition in America.
