DescriptionThis small bottle was assembled from lengths of mosaic cane and free-blown, then carefully tooled. It has an outsplayed rim with a closed, cut-out tubular ledge that slopes outward, a tall cylindrical neck that tapers slightly upward, and an ovoid body with convex sides and a slightly concave bottom. A striking striped mosaic pattern was created from vertical lengths of a single cane set in an opaque white ground, encased in pale yellow glass so that parts appear dark opaque yellow. Each vertical length is bordered on one side by golden-brown and on the other by blue, the latter encased in pale yellow to appear green. These stripes begin on one side of the rim, continue down the body, curve across the base, and rise again on the opposite side, creating a continuous loop of color.
