Label TextWhile Jaume Plensa is known almost exclusively as a sculptor (see his sculptures Paula and Spiegel outside in the Museum’s sculpture garden), he regularly also produces elegiac and beautiful works on paper. In this contemplative work, a peaceful face seems to emerge into being out of nothingness. In creating the Slumberland drawings, a larger series of which this work is a part, the artist was inspired by the sensation of seeing the face of a loved one at so close a proximity that it becomes distorted.Exhibition HistoryGalerie Lelong, New York City, New York.
