DescriptionThis is a set of 11 lithograph and screenprints of identical size, each one portraying a different “Eccentric Polygon” borrowed from Stella’s earlier “Irregular Polygon” painting series. The polygons generally fill each sheet of paper from top to bottom edge, but they also appear to float against the white fields. Unlike the smooth, brushless surfaces of Stella’s paintings, the color that fills in these shapes is visibly scribbled and striated—in this way making visible the drawing texture typical to the lithography process.
