DescriptionThis large fragment is part of a bowl or possibly a flat inlay plaque. It is made of polychrome composite mosaic glass. The decoration consists of conventionalized rosettes in turquoise blue with red centers, set on a background of black and yellow. The design includes a mirror image pattern made from one large hexagonal slab that was sliced horizontally, with both halves arranged side by side. The ground is purple with rows of blue rosettes and scattered yellow cane clusters. One side is polished and cracked, the other side is iridesced, and the edges are chipped. The fragment is mounted on a modern glass backing.
