DescriptionThis is a fragment of a fine alabaster bowl, smoothly carved and likely originally shallow in form. The fragment bears part of a cartouche identifying Pharaoh Thutmose III, incised into the surface.
Label TextThis alabaster bowl fragment bears the cartouche—the oval name-ring—of Thutmose III, a powerful pharaoh of Egypt's 18th Dynasty. Although Thutmose III ruled over a century before Amarna was founded by Akhenaten, his name appears here on a vessel fragment excavated in Amarna’s Main Town in 1922.
