Label TextGenerating a whirlwind of energy and kicked-up snow, the formidable warrior Sakucho rides his black steed while wielding a battle axe. This print comes from a series of prints based on a popular Chinese adventure novel about a Robin Hood-like band of rebels who defy the authorities and champion the poor. The scene captures the moment when Sakucho, who is sent by the governor to fight against the rebels, plunges with his horse into their snow-covered trap. After he is captured by the rebel gang, he becomes one of their leaders.
