Label TextFloral arrangements in baskets were popular for jewelry from the 1750s when ornaments in the form of “giardinetti” (Italian for “little gardens”) were made of tiny blooms arranged with Rococo asymmetry in baskets, vases, and pots. Their form echoed the floral patterns found on fashionable silk gowns of the era (see image).Published ReferencesLiving Diamonds: Fauna and Flora in Diamond Jewellery, Antwerp, Diamond Museum, 2002, no. 30, p. 72, repr. p. 30 (col.).Exhibition HistoryAntwerp, Diamond Museum, Living Diamonds: Fauna and Flora in Diamond Jewellery, 2002, no. 30.
