Label TextIn 1996 Dale Chihuly embarked on an ambitious installation of his monumental, multi-piece “chandeliers” throughout the city of Venice, Italy. The Campiello del Remer chandelier (named for its installation location) was one of 14 designed for Chihuly Over Venice. Chihuly and his team made Campiello del Remer in collaboration with the glassworkers at the Waterford Crystal Factory in Ireland, famous for its fine cut lead crystal. Chihuly subsequently split the chandelier in two, one “half” going to the Kemper Museum in Kansas City, and the other to Toledo. With help from TMA staff, Chihuly’s team installed in the Glass Pavilion lobby, rearranging 243 pieces to make it unique to its Toledo location.Published ReferencesWaggoner, Shawn, "Chihuly Over Venice," Glass Art, vol. 11, no. 4 (May/June 1996); 39-43, repr.
