Label TextChristian Gottfried Schneider was the most famous gem and glass engraver from the Hirschberg Valley in Silesia (parts of modern Poland, Czech Republic, and Germany), known for its highly skilled cutters. This glass reflects the exuberant 18th-century Rococo style popular in the eastern part of continental Europe until the 1770s and characterized in glass by dense c-scroll decoration. The portrait of the Prussian King Frederic II (ruled 1740-1786) probably derived from a medal issued by the monarch in 1741.1763-1796
