Label TextAn important type of lacquer decoration is makie, which means sprinkled picture. Gold of silver dust is sprinkled on the lacquer before it dries. Hiramakie means flat sprinkled picture. The sprinkled parts have a fine, thin layer of lacquer over them. Hiramakie has been used on this picnic box.
