Label TextHaving initially earned his reputation in glass through a series of beautifully crafted blown forms, in the mid-1980s, Robert Clark Palusky began to focus on the narrative, a tradition foreign to much contemporary glass at the time. Highly autobiographical, his figurative sculptures of this period transcend the technical to express the artist’s emotions and his spirited vision of human life. This sculpture belongs to a group of works in which Palusky exalted his mother for helping himself and his four brothers to break out of the poverty in which they lived, to attend college, and to achieve successful careers.
