Label TextDale Chihuly (born 1941) has achieved a level of popular success unprecedented for a contemporary glass artist, bringing American studio glass to widespread attention, both nationally and internationally. Chihuly began to study glassblowing in 1966 with Harvey Littleton at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, the first program in the United States of its kind. In 1972, he helped establish Pilchuck Glass Center, still a vital and innovative school for learning to work with glass.
