DescriptionEmbellished with applied heavy tooled annular rings. Joined by a wafer to the quatrefoil base. Standard and base pressed in the same mold and by the same plunger, modified, as lamp 1965.20.
Label TextBecause of their essentially architectural form, glass lighting fixtures were well suited to expressions of classical taste. The candlestick is supported by a pressed base with scrolls and “lion’s paw” feet of antique inspiration in a style characteristic of the 1830s.Published ReferencesRose, James H., "Unrecorded Rarities in American Glass: More Lacy Items," Antiques, vol. 71, February 1957, pp. 160-162 (Reprint 2, pp. 148-150), repr. p. 162.
