DescriptionApplied Types II and III lily pads. Applied thread around neck. Applied solid trefoil handle, crimped above upturned lower end; three horizontal tool marks just above the crimp. Applied sloping foot. Rough, irregular pontil mark.
Label TextBecause virtually all the known lily pad ware was fabricated with aqua, green, olive, or amber glass, it is clear that the style flourished at establishments where bottles or window panels were the primary products. Usually the decorative motifs seen in tableware from bottle and window factories were modeled after the fashions in refined glass, but the lack of high-style versions indicates that lily pad decoration did not find favor with flint glass manufacturers.Published ReferencesGeorge S.
