Label TextWenceslaus Hollar used very fine and densely packed lines to create the fur on his “portrait” of a dead hare. Hollar was particularly noted for his skill in the reproduction of furs, skins, and feathers in his etched images. The hare hangs by one leg as a hunting dog sniffs at its carcass. Song birds lie alongside and fill a basket behind.Exhibition HistoryTMA, The Dramatic Image: Baroque Prints of the 17th Century, February 25 - July 31, 2011.
