Label TextRichard Diebenkorn’s untitled lithograph is simultaneously abstract and evocative of the view outside his Ocean Park studio in Santa Monica, California. This is his earliest exploration in printmaking (as opposed to paint) of the geometric compositions of lines and planes of color, seemingly awash in Southern California light, that characterize the Ocean Park period of his work. His prints, like his paintings, retain a sense of his hand, of his process of creation.
