Label TextIn his prints from the early 1850s, Félix Bracquemond was strongly influenced by the Japanese artist Hokusai (see prints by Hokusai in this exhibition). Bracquemond flattened the picture plane and arranged the composition, "vertically up the sheet, the asymmetrical composition, the motifs which are not at all in the classical tradition, and especially the silhouetting and interlocking of forms to create a flat surface."Published ReferencesBeraldi, Henri, Les Graveurs du XIXe siecle, III, Paris, 1885, p.134 Getscher, Robert H.
