Label TextPatience is the ability to tolerate or even ignore adversity: the capacity to forebear and remain calm. Sebald Beham depicts Patience as an angel holding a lamb while sitting on a plinth. Behind Patience a demon taunts her, while above, two cherub-like putti (classical figures often signifying the spiritual realm) are about to place a wreath of victory on her head.Exhibition HistoryToledo Museum of Art, Storytelling in Miniature, October 7, 2011-March 4, 2012.
