Label TextExpanding in a long curve from right to left along the bank, the houses in Frank Duveneck's Canal Grande (the largest and most trafficked canal in Venice) are striking. The suggested textures are made evident by the direction of the etching needle strokes, the varying depths of line, and the architectural detail.Published ReferencesPoole, Emily, "The Etchings of Frank Duveneck," Print Collector's Quarterly, Vol. XX, (1938), pp. 313-331, 446-463, no. 19; illus. no. 3, p. 320 cf.
