Label TextThis print pays tribute to Senefelder as the inventor of "the art of lithography" in Munich in 1796. As the inscription at the top of the image also states: lithography was 'imported" to France by Andre Offenbach in 1800, and the lithography establishments of Engelmann and Lasteyrie were founded in 1816 and 1815 respectively. This is a charming allegorical interpretation of the lithography printing process. This served as an example of lithographically transposed handwriting, as well as an excessively flowery homage to Senefelder.
