Ketelhodt, 2001) In 1986, the German artists Ines von Ketelhodt, Anja Harms, Doris Preussner, Uta Schneider, and Ulrike Stoltz formed an artists’ collective called Unica T. The name of the collective is a play on words meaning one-of-a-kind and honors the poet Unica Zürn. For 15 years the group shared studio space, working both together and individually to create art in the form of books. Their motto: “Unica T is a fictitious person making real books.” Like all the artists of Unica T, Ketelhodt makes books that integrate image and text, concept and materials. As the artist describes it, “The topic [of Konzept II] is a dance with a table before a wall. Mounting the camera on a tripod permitted a depth focus on the background and rendered blurred exposures of the dancing woman in front of an unchanging background. The dancer…explores her dance in the center, at the edges, and outside the limits of the photographs. Through the use of transparent paper, the dancer’s and the table’s movements are superimposed and create movement within the space of the book.”Exhibition HistorySplendid Pages: The Molly and Walter Bareiss Collection of Modern Illustrated Books, Feb. 14--May 11, 2003
