Label TextLise Hirtz was a French writer associated, like Joan Miró, with the Surrealist movement. Her seemingly childish but morbid verses, published here in her own ornate handwriting, are paralleled by Miró's drawings in a spare, deceptively casual style. The title poem shown here reads: "There once was a little magpie/ Who was always in despair/ And always in her bed./ She was all black/ But very pretty all the same./ She went out for a ride/ A ride on mouseback/ Came back mortally ill/ And died in her bed."Published Referencescf.
