Label Text"Fanfare" is an elaborate style of decoration consisting of interlaced bands enclosing geometrical compartments filled with leafy spirals (here done by a system of solid lines and tiny dots). Elsewhere on the binding, one can note the fleur-de-lys emblem, the crowned "L" and Louis XIII royal coat of arms in the center. This is a brilliant achievement in book binding. Later, this prayer book was in a distinguished library of Robert Hoe, whose forebears invented the rotary printing press (widely used for printing newspapers until recently).Exhibition HistoryTMA, Paper Roses: Garden-Inspired Works on Paper.
