Label TextThis is the last of series of plays published by Iliazd between 1919 and 1923. It epitomizes his concern with the visual qualities of the written word and the phonetic qualities of the spoken word. The book contains a sophisticated system for the pronunciation of words as well as the rhythm for each speech. The typography and design reflects these vocal patterns. The content of the play explores the relationship of art and reality. The hero represents the new trends of Russian Futurism; the villain is a realist painter.Published Referencescf.
