Label TextSimon de Colines (1475-1547), was a distinguished French Printer who pioneered the French use of italic type and furthered the use of the roman letter. From 1520-1526, he managed the Estienne Press after the death of Henri Estienne, whose widow he married, until the son Robert Estienne could take over. Colines then established his own press. The inside of the text is not shown so that one can see the elaborate binding, This book, once in the library of Francis I, King of France from 1515 to 1547, is decorated on the binding with a crowned "F" (on the outer borders), as well as with the king's devices: the salamander and stars, ermine and fleur-de-lys (all crowned).
