Label Text:Heri Dono believes there are three different levels of human character: those who question life, discuss life, and laugh at life. Dono’s work reflects the latter, combining humor with his social and political commentary, making him a master of satire. His art is influenced by cartoons, and animation, as well as traditional and contemporary Javanese culture from his native Indonesia.

Atop the series of slightly burned books displaying images and writing from Javanese culture are fiberglass monkey skulls. The visually compelling work presents a commentary on globalism.
