Label Text:Glimpses of signal moments in African American life and history, including the evolution of laws created after the Civil War to disenfranchise black voters. Robinson particularly notes the history of these laws in her native Ohio (something of which many contemporary Ohioans may be unaware), and the continuing struggle to retain and assert voting rights. The apex of that effort in The Ragmud Collection is Robinson’s documentation of Barack Obama’s election to the American presidency in the fall of 2008. Coincidently, this historic moment occurred just weeks before she delivered the final volume to the Museum, and she was able to slip it in Volume 9 before she completed the book.
