Label Text:Blue painted pottery was invented in the middle of Dynasty 18 and made for only a few generations. To decorate these jars—designed to be set in stands—artisans used pigments made from powdered blue glass. The color was perfect for painting the petals of the blue lotus, symbol of rebirth. Tomb paintings show similar jars draped with garlands of lotuses.
