Label Text:Gabriel Liston takes the style of early 20th-century illustrations for children’s books and magazines and gives it a contemporary twist. Though the images at fist seem as innocent as their inspirations, Liston adds—through the titles or disquieting details—a more knowing and darker sensibility to each small work.
