Label Text:This lapis lazuli scarab bears the throne name of Ramesses II, Usermaatre-Setepenre, meaning "Powerful Justice of Re, Chosen of Re." The back of the scarab is carved in a naturalistic style, with clearly separated elytra (wing covers). Scarabs like this functioned as amulets and seals, symbolizing renewal, protection, and royal power. The quality of the cutting is exceptional, with the inscription and details well-preserved. The scarab is pierced lengthwise, indicating it may have been worn on the body.
