Label Text:Named after a volute krater in the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore, the Baltimore Painter was one of the most prolific painters of the late phase of Apulian vase painting. His vases often show funerary imagery with several figures in a naiskos (small tomb shrine) on the main panel, and the extensive use of shades of orange, red, and brown to impart a richness and sculptural quality to his figures and subsidiary decoration.
