Label Text:Bridge Harrison was a leading practitioner of landscape painting in America in the early 20th century. He was noted for conveying in his work a deep spiritual connection with the land. This painting shows the stream which joins Tannery Brook in Woodstock, New York, the town in the Catskill foothills where Harrison lived and taught. Harrison was an influential teacher and a leadiing figure in the development of Woodstock as an art colony.



The Museum acquired Woodstock Meadows in Winter in 1912 directly from the artist, who considered it one of his best paintings.
