Label Text:This presentation cup in the form of a stylized oak tree features Saint Sebastian as the cover’s finial. Sebastian was sentenced to be executed for his Christian faith by being shot with arrows, but survived. As patron saint of archers and soldiers, his inclusion on the cup, along with the enameled shields with the coat-of-arms of the city of Ingolstadt, a rifle, and a crossbow, suggests the cup may have been made for the Ingolstadt confraternity of marksmen.
