Label Text:Standing beneath three ornate trefoil arches, a man wearing a hooded cape and dagger picks flowers from a blossoming tree to offer to two women, one of whom holds a garland wreath, perhaps a reciprocal gift. Secular Gothic ivories including caskets, mirror backs, and combs often displayed themes of courtship and love. This plaque may have been inserted into the lid of a box or used elsewhere as an inlay.
