Label Text:Based in Amsterdam, Richard Meitner has been working in glass for nearly 40 years. In this vase form, he uses the enigmatic enameled image to emphasize the transparency of the glass—the full image must be seen through the glass. At the same time, he used a technique called “fuming” that vaporized tin chloride onto the surface, creating iridescence around the top of the form that veils the view through the glass.
