Label Text:A native of Toledo, Ohio, Robert Fritz earned a Ph.D. in chemistry with a specialty in glass at Ohio State University in 1960. During postgraduate studies, he met fellow glassmaker and studio glass pioneer Harvey Littleton. Although Fritz first urged colleagues to use glass as an art medium at the American Craft Council conference in 1961, it was not until he attended a summer workshop led by German glass artist Erwin Eisch in 1964that he applied the concept to his own career. Vase Form represents his dynamic, fluid style that expresses the essence of molten glass.
