DescriptionLid of canopic jar in the likeness of the Egyptian dog-headed deity Duamutef. Opaque dark blue.Three-dimensional frontal image of the head of Duamutef, one of four mythological figures, the sons of Horns, whose likenesses were used as lids of jars containing the viscera of the dead. Hollow on the inside. Below the head, a recessed, short cylindrical rim with a rounded edge intended to fit into a canopic jar. Glass; cast.
