Label Text:In this set of four prints, Ross Bleckner blends abstraction with recognizable forms to create meditations on perception. The bird-like forms in these works glow with a transcendent light and energy. They fly, they fall, or they hover, at all times seeming to vibrate with an inner force. Bleckner wrote, “For me it’s the vibratory quality of repetition. There’s a pulsating under the surface that I’m looking for.” In this series, the artist creates the “vibratory quality” by first digitally printing the sheets with a deep sky-like indigo blue, and then hand-painting the white forms.
