Label Text:This photograph shows the Temple of Edfu before it had been completely unearthed by 19-century archeologists. The Temple stands approximately 60 miles south of Luxor and is one of the best-preserved monuments of ancient Egypt. At this temple, Horus, the child of Isis and Osiris, was worshipped in several forms—as a falcon, as a human being with a falcon’s head, and as a winged disk.
