Label Text:The scene depicted on this ornamental print is from the ancient Greek myth of Ganymede, a youth whose beauty caused the god Zeus to fall in love with him and abduct him to Olympus (another meaning of the word “rape” is to forcefully abduct and is often used in this sense in Greek mythology).
