In these five prints Pencz represents the five senses as seated nude women, accompanied by an animal traditionally associated with the relevant sense. From left to right, top to bottom, the prints show:
Auditus (Hearing), gesturing to musical instruments, while a boar looks on
Visus (Sight), looking out of a window at the sun, moon, and stars with a lynx at her side
Tactus (Touch), weaving at a loom accompanied by a spider in its web
Olfatus (Smell), shown holding flowers with fragrance bottles on the floor and a vulture beside her
Gustus (Taste), eating with a fork while a monkey eats with his hands
