Label Text:A lone male Northern Pintail duck prepares to take a sip of water, its reflection rising to meet it. Writing about his success as a sporting artist—based largely on his images of ducks—Benson noted, “Since I took up etching and black and white work in connection with my painting, I have found my knowledge of and interest in birds is of a value I would never have expected. I draw them first as when I was in school, for my own amusement, but now apparently I have an audience all over the country and in England.”
