Label Text:After traveling to Lebanon as a member of the French military in1860, Félix Bonfils could not forget the beauty of the country. His glowing praise piqued the interest of his wife Lydia. When their young son needed a change of climate for health reasons, she made a trip with him to ‘the Lebanon.’ Soon after their return, the family relocated, and Félix established a photography studio in Beirut. He was an enterprising businessman and quickly opened branches in Alexandria, Cairo, and Alais, France as well as employing a correspondent in New York.
