Label Text:Tristan Tzara first introduced the dealer Heinz Berggruen to Picasso in 1950, shorty before the Tzara/Picasso book DE MEMOIRE D'HOMME (see no. 29) was exhibited in Berggruen's gallery. On the occasion of the 1956 exhibition of Picasso's drawings done over a period of a half century (1902-1954), Berggruen published this small book with an appreciation written by Jardot. For the cover, Picasso made a color lithograph divided into two parts: the front shows a bacchanalian couple; the back, the face of a bearded man.
