Instead of a traditional book, these catalogues were contained in a cardboard box—a common object whose contents could easily change with each show.
Jasper Johns’s box catalogue was produced in conjunction with an exhibition of his print works in 1971. It contains rolled-up, printed scrolls and a plastic rose.
